Children Can Be A Great Help When It Comes To Chores!

Children are much disorganized, is true and the parent is the one left to pick up after they play. Being a parent is one of the most tiring jobs and it is a 24 hour shift, 7 days a week. Wouldn t it be nice to have some help once the day has ended and all the mess is all that s left? Well you can by teaching and having your children help you with the clean up time and other chores. It sounds quite difficult to just think of having your children help you; it is difficult but not impossible! To start have a talk with your child and explain to them it is a good thing to help. Mention to them that you have had a long day and that you also need to rest. Most of the time it might seem like they are not listening to you, do not give up. If you do this on a constant daily sequence for a few days, your child would eventually understand your message and is more likely going to feel like he/she wants to help. After having the talk and getting your message across, do not give or demand your child to do something for you. A great way to approach them is by asking them what they would like to help you with. Sometimes it might not be a big thing, however always acknowledge their help and thank them! Influential words like Great job , You are mama s little helper have a strong impact in children. This would make your child feel like their help is really important and these words would influence them into helping out more. Is also good to sometimes reward them for their help, keep in mind I said Sometimes . You do not want your child to think every time he/she helps there is a reward behind it. In addition let your rewards be simple, like a scoop of their favorite ice cream or letting them watch television for a few additional minutes. Children are very smart and they would catch up with the whole reward method, so do not get fooled! As a parent you can also coach your child and help them while they help you. Meaning if you see they are unsure or struggling with their task approach them in a nice way and tell them how it should be done. You can even do it yourself first, children imitate actions and they would learn like that. Not only is this going to save you time it is also extremely beneficial for your child. Doing chores or helping with small activities maintains your child active and healthy which is very important! Another thing with so much energy spent your child would at the end of the day want to rest and sleep. Wouldn t that be the perfect thing? Is up to you parents! Remember that perseverance and dedication is the key to achieving goals, no matter how difficult they seem.
